I'm Imran Hyder, a Junior from Houston, Texas studying Economics with an additional major in Philosophy. I am the current Student Body Vice President of Organizations and the President of Sigma Chi. I am excited to use my experiences on the Committee on Student Organizations, University Center Allocations Board, University Student Advisory Council, and the Student Leadership Council to help amplify the voices of the CMU community.

Hi everyone! My name is Sarah Abrams and I am a first-year student studying Technical Writing & Communications with a minor in Innovation & Entrepreneurship. As a freshman whose college experience has been hindered by the pandemic, I empathize with other students in their struggle to balance academic and social life. I want to see us experience changes in student life, administrative transparency, and a re-orientation program. By combining my first-year perspective with Imran’s upperclassmen experience, our ticket offers a unique blend between pre-pandemic tradition and post-pandemic prosperity.

Hi there! My name is Jacob Chan, a first year Civil Engineering student in Phi Delta Theta, Engineering Ambassadors, and Street Stylez. I’m joining the Hyder-Abrams campaign effort to advocate for asynchronous and remote students. In the short time that I’ve witnessed to several prominent issues regarding university accountability, activism, and representation. I’m also deeply interested in ensuring that we continue to fight for undergraduate representation on CMU’s financial institutions.

My name's Preston Blair and I'm from Los Angeles, CA. I'm currently a junior enrolled in the Fine Arts program pursing a minor in Innovation & Entrepreneurship. I mainly focus on video performance, digital and film photography, graphic design, and sculpture. Recently, I've been working more with drawing and spray painting in order to grow my practice. I'm passionate about self-expression and am excited about joining alongside Imran and Sarah in order to bring a creative mind into their cabinet.

Candidate for Student Senate
My goal as a returning senator is to help make improvements to students standards of living such as increasing student (especially TA) wages and improving the learning environment of students. I also intend on helping to make CMU’s campus more environmentally friendly through increasing recycling and decreasing campus restaurant waste. With the Hyder-Abrams administration, I hope to meet my goals and improve on communication between CIT students and faculty through work for the Business Affairs Committee.

My goal as a senator is to work towards increasing the available dinex options for students whether it is new restaurants on campus or partnering with other establishments. I will also be at the forefront of raising the student minimum wage, and advocating for university-wide accommodation for students in other time zones.Within the Hyder-Abrams administration, I hope to fulfill my goals and continue advocating for all CIT students.

As a Senator, my goal is to ensure every student on campus feels respected, valued, and safe through Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), wellness, academic policy reform, and labor initiatives. Some plans I will pursue include town halls with administration to uplift marginalized students, raising student minimum wage, and reforming exam policies to allow for exams to be weighted no more than 50% of the final grade. With a Hyder-Abrams administration, my goal is to increase transparency and communication on initiatives like these between student government, administration, and the student body.

Hi! I am Skriti Nakkeeran, a freshman in MCS studying Cognitive Neuroscience and Decision Science. As a potential senator, I hope to advocate for equitable student wages, find alternatives for a more enriching campus-life experience that may have been restricted by COVID, establish a solid student communication method with custodial and maintenance services, and increase the accessibility and convenience of student databases, including the CMU website. My platform also has a strong focus on improving the current dining scheme for all students by introducing more reasonable minimum first year meal plan options, increasing the number of off-campus dining options under the meal plan, and allowing students to carry over any remaining meal blocks to use in subsequent semesters.

As a part of the Communications Committee, my goal is to connect the student body to Senate through various social media platforms as well as a semesterly newsletter in development. We also hope to connect Senators to each other and make sure every member of Senate is informed on initiatives even outside of their own committees. Within a Hyder-Abrams administration, I would continue working on these goals as an active and dedicated member of Senate’s Communications Committee.
